About the Park

Biogradska Gora National Park is one of the four national parks of Montenegro and a true natural gem on Bjelasica Mountain. Covering an area of 5,650 hectares, the park features dense forests, mountain pastures, crystal-clear lakes, and numerous rivers that shape landscapes of exceptional beauty. A special value of the park is the Biogradska primeval forest, one of the few preserved primeval forests in Europe, where trees over 400 years old can be found. This area is home to exceptionally rich flora and fauna, and thanks to its preserved nature and peaceful atmosphere, it is an ideal destination for hiking enthusiasts, relaxation seekers, and explorers of untouched wilderness.

Biogradska Gora is also known for its six glacial lakes, the most famous of which is Biogradsko Lake…located in the heart of the primeval forest at an altitude of 1,094 meters. The park abounds in numerous viewpoints offering impressive views of the peaks of Bjelasica and the surrounding mountain ranges. In addition to its natural beauty, the park area is also rich in cultural and historical heritage — from traditional katuns and rural households to ancient monasteries and churches.
