Through the streets of Podgorica
Podgorica, the commercial and cultural center, is the largest and main city of Montenegro and the main intersection of roads in Montenegro. It got its name from the hill Gorica, under which it grew and developed. The city is in an excellent location as it represents a connection between winter ski resorts and the Montenegrin coast. Its good position also resulted in an excellent climate, with warm summers and pleasant winters. The city is intersected by five rivers, and nearby is Lake Skadar, the largest lake in the Balkans, with an incredible number of birds and plants, some of which are very rare.
The city, whose turbulent history has left its mark not only on its infrastructure but also on the way of life of the local population, is the economic, political, educational, and administrative center of Montenegro - it is very interesting to visit. In recent years, the city has experienced a great boom and has become a modern metropolis. With intensive urbanization and construction development, many modern buildings and high-rises, the city is changing at an enormous pace.
Podgorica hosts numerous cultural events, and there are also many theaters, cultural art centers, and the like. The Clock Tower, Adži-paša Osmanagića Mosque, the ruins of Nemanja's city, remains of the city of Duklja (from the 1st century AD), Stara Varoš (Old Town) are just some of the cultural and historical landmarks worth visiting.
