The capital and pearls of the Adriatic

The capital and pearls of the Adriatic

During this phenomenal trip, you have the opportunity to visit three of the most touristically and historically interesting cities in Montenegro - Cetinje, Kotor, and Budva.

Cetinje is the capital of Montenegro, surrounded by the slopes of Lovćen National Park. This city is a treasure trove of Montenegro's history, culture, and tradition. When you visit Cetinje, you'll feel like time has stopped. You'll be surrounded by many old buildings that were once embassies of various countries from around the world. What particularly catches the eye is certainly the Cetinje Monastery from 1701 and the Biljarda. In Cetinje, there are numerous museums and the Academy of Arts. The proximity to Lovćen National Park offers a wonderful opportunity for unforgettable experiences and a chance to visit the world's highest mausoleum. On hot summer days, Lovćen National Park offers an exceptionally pleasant atmosphere.

Located in one of the most beautiful bays in the world, Kotor, the city of merchants and famous sailors, has a lot to tell. The Old Town of Kotor is the best-preserved medieval urban environment typical of cities dating back to the 12th and 14th centuries. Medieval architecture and numerous monuments of cultural heritage have placed Kotor on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Throughout the entire city, buildings spread out, intertwined with narrow streets and squares. One of them is the Cathedral of St. Tryphon, a monument to Romanesque culture and one of the recognizable symbols of the city. Carnivals and festivals organized every year add an extra charm to the most beautiful city on the Montenegrin coast. Kotor is not to be missed.

Budva is considered one of the oldest settlements in the Adriatic region. According to legend, the founder of Budva was Cadmus, the ruler of Thebes and the husband of Harmonia, the daughter of Aphrodite. However, the rise of great Mediterranean cultures has marked the spirit of this city, which is still felt today. Budva has grown into a modern summer metropolis, the most visited summer destination in Montenegro. What attracts people and brings them to Budva is primarily something that nature has bestowed upon this region, and it has given it the incomparable beauty of sun, sea, and a series of pearl-like beaches at the foot of towering mountains. The great value of Budva lies in its cultural and historical heritage: numerous monuments, excavations, fortresses, monasteries, and churches.
